Andrew Keates' previously tipped production of William M Hoffman's critically acclaimed eighties AIDS play 'As Is' is now midway through its run at the Trafalgar Studios. And in addition to the show itself, there's also a great programme of talks and discussions taking place most evenings.
I spoke to Andrew a couple of weeks back about the play, the activity and activism surrounding it, and his reasons for staging it now. And you can read that interview here.

COMEDY: Ealing Comedy Festival | Walpole Park | 17-24 Jul (pictured)
The Ealing Comedy Festival kicks off tonight with a show headlined by Julian Clary and also featuring Shappi Khorsandi, Justin Moorhouse, and Mickey Hutton. CHILDREN'S SHOW: Little Frankenstein | Little Angel Theatre | 17-18 Jul (pictured) Frank Stein is preparing for a new puppet show, but the poor quality of his puppets is proving problematic. Inspired by Dr Frankenstein he comes up with a design for a new real live puppet that will change everything. Details and tickets here. FESTIVAL: Walthamstow Garden Party | Lloyd Park | 18-19 Jul Walthamstow's free festival returns for another year, with a great line-up of music, theatre, dance, spoken word, comedy and more. CHILDREN'S SHOW: Monski Mouse's Baby Disco Dance Hall | London Wonderground | 19 Jul
A mid-afternoon disco for under fives and their parents, hosted by Australian DJ Monksi Mouse. She'll be playing "an eclectic selection of retro hits and funky nursery rhymes". Details and tickets here. CIRCUS: Scotch & Soda | London Wonderground | 14 May - 2 Aug What is Scotch & Soda? Apart from an awful drink, it's also "a cocktail of physical feats and jazz beats performed by daredevil acrobats and mesmerizing musicians". And that sounds pretty good to me. Part life drawing class, part cabaret show, Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School started in Brooklyn and now runs in cities all over the world. Its models are burlesque performers and circus acts, who will also perform for you in between posing for you to draw. Details and tickets here. COMEDY: Arj Barker - Get In My Mind | Soho Theatre | 20-28 Jul (pictured) Skilful US standup Arj Barker returns to the UK for the first time in five years with a short run of shows exclusive to the Soho Theatre. POETRY: An Evening With An Immigrant | Soho Theatre | 20 Jul Award winning poet Inua Ellams moved to England from Nigeria when he was twelve years old, living in Ireland for three years, before returning to London to work as a write and graphic designer.
