MONDAY 23 MARCH 2020 THISWEEKLONDON.COM
With London's venues in temporary shutdown as efforts continue to restrict and delay the spread of COVID-19, for the next few weeks we'll be putting the spotlight on great comedy, theatre and other Fringe-style entertainment that is available online - both streaming live and on-demand.

If you know about live streaming events or on-demand shows that you think we should be recommending in the weeks ahead let us know - send all and any details to us at TWlondon@unlimitedmedia.co.uk

We are also interested in any initiatives to support the creative community during the venue shutdown period. For starters, do check out the #hecklethevirus programme from NextUp Comedy which is seeking to support comedians who have already been negatively impacted. We'll also big up other similar initiatives in the coming weeks.

THREE FROM STAY AT HOME FESTIVAL>>

T
he Stay At Home Show with Robin Ince, Brian Cox, David McAlmont and Bec Hill | 24 Mar at 10.00am (Bec Hill pictured)
You might have heard that Robin Ince and friends at The Cosmic Shambles Network have come up with the Stay At Home Festival, a whole series of online events delivering comedy, science and music, which you can, obviously, partake of from your armchair. I picked this one because it features ThreeWeeks Edinburgh Award winner Bec Hill.

Vitriola with Robin Ince, Michael Legge, Emma Pollock and Malcolm Middleton | 25 Mar at 8.30pm
Another thing you may already be aware of is Robin Ince and Michael Legge's Vitriola Music, a "niche podcast featuring us two talking and shouting about what music we've listened to that week". If you hadn't before, well, now you do know, courtesy of its inclusion in the festival line up.

The Stay At Home Comedy Club with Josie Long, John Luke Roberts and more | 28 Mar at 8.30pm
Final pick is for the The Stay At Home Comedy Club featuring long term TW favourites Josie Long and John Luke Roberts, and more to be confirmed. While you are waiting for the more to be confirmed, take note that the previous Comedy Club included class acts Mark Watson, Tiernan Douieb and Jonny and the Baptists.

For more info and listings for all Stay At Home Festival events, see this page here.

THREE ALREADY AVAILABLE>>

Cryptic at The Glad Cafe
Last week art house producers Cryptic had an event booked at The Glad Cafe in Glasgow but decided in light of the current situation to close the event to the public, and streamed it live instead. It's a triple bill of live electronic music from Scotland, Vietnam and Russia - artists Alex Smoke, LinhHafornow and Aeger Smoothie - and you can find out more about it here and watch it here.

Soho Theatre Live: Lazy Susan (pictured)
We love Lazy Susan so we are more than happy to see their work offered up as one of Soho Theatre's on demand series and can confirm they are definitely worth the measly four quid you'll need to expend to experience their excellence. Want to hear what one of our reviewers said? "The sketches reveal their wicked imagination and intelligent sense of mischief right from the opening scene." So, head this way to watch their show.

Jayde Adams: Serious Black Jumper
I expect there's a fairly high chance that at least some, if not many readers, have already watched Jayde Adams' Amazon special 'Serious Black Jumper', as it's been available for a couple of months. If you haven't, perhaps now is the time? I have watched it and can confirm that it's rather good. Head this way to watch it.

THREE COMING UP>>

Notflix: The Improvised Musical | 29 Mar at 7.00pm (pictured)
We're fans of improv here at TW Towers, and we've heard great things about this particular improv troupe via the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. So yes I can confirm that we were really rather excited that they're planning to stream a live free live performance and those tuning in at home will be able to send in their film suggestions via Facebook or Twitter: Follow their Facebook page here, and their Twitter feed here, and tune in at 7.00pm on Sunday.

Luke Wright | currently every night at at 8.00pm
It feels like we've been following the career of this veteran poet and performer since he was about five but in fact I think he was a bit older than that. Anyway, all these years he's been doing great great stuff, and since these interesting times began, he's been broadcasting live via Twitter every night at 8.00pm, and hopefully this will continue. Follow him here and get over there at 8.00pm.

On Site Opera: Pygmalion | 30 Mar at 4.00pm
Innovative New York based opera company On Site Opera have responded to these previously cited interesting times by streaming "watch party" performances of past operas over the next month and 'Pygmalion' is the next one. See the company website here or the Facebook page here for more information and to watch.
